Stainless Steel Membrane Switch

by Cubbison, on Oct 15, 2013 3:45:00 PM

Does your membrane switch need to be "explosion proof"? Explosion proof means the material used in manufacturing the membrane switch needs to be able to prevent a hazardous charge. Membrane switch overlays are typically manufactured out of polyester or polycarbonate.  Neither of these materials can prevent the hazardous charge.

There are two options available to make your membrane switch explosion proof;

1:  We can send the overlay part out to be coated with a static dissipative coating. This process is very expensive and requires a much longer lead time.

2:  We can use stainless steel as the overlay. We will chemically etch your graphics into the metal, making this option very durable.The stainless steel overlay is a much cheaper alternative to the dissipative coating and will hold up in very harsh environments.

Cubbison offers both solutions to make your membrane switch explosion proof. Our engineers are available to answer any questions or make any design recommendations.
