Commercial and industrial labels can be produced in a myriad of materials, shapes, and sizes, and they can incorporate colorful graphics. This versatility makes them an affordable alternative to nameplates for the purposes of asset management, barcoding, tracking, compliance, safety, or information purposes.

Label Design

We encourage our clients to begin their product design with two factors in mind: purpose and environment.

Purpose: Consider whether your label will be used for product identification, safety warnings, traceability, date coding, asset management, or some other purpose.

Environment: Consider whether your label will be subjected to extreme weather conditions, chemical solvents, corrosive materials, abrasives, high humidity, moisture, dust, or other threatening environmental factors.

After considering the purpose and environment, you can focus on the "facestock," or material used to produce the label, as well as the adhesive.

Label Adhesives

Your selection of adhesive will have a bearing on product aesthetics and performance, so the following factors should be considered:

  • chemical exposure
  • environmental factors such as humidity, water, and extreme temperatures
  • lamination, clear coating, and other finishes
  • surface energy, texture, and treatments

Nameplates as an alternative to labels

Printed, Domed, and Cut-Vinyl Labels

Printed labels are suitable for high-volume labeling, barcoding, sequential serial numbers, product tracking, and asset management. Domed and cut-vinyl labels are ideal if you need to match irregular configurations or improve aesthetics.
